A Flagship Party!

Last night I was invited to a very exciting party! After a major refurbishment, Mothercare’s flagship store on Oxford street was celebrating and weren’t we lucky that we got to help them do it!

Hosted by Myleene Klass who designs their BabyK range it was an all star studded event with flashing lights, the whole caboodle!

Florence and I pretending we’re celebs in front of the screen at the do!

I’ve been to the Mothercare store on Oxford Street before and actually, in the past I would say it’s been one of the worst. The baby change wasn’t brilliant and when I wanted to feed a tiny Florence there wasn’t anywhere for breastfeeding mothers only an area for bottle feeding which is really quite different in needs for a setting. About this time last year I wrote about how they were changing things and making their stores much more friendly. Now, having been back to Oxford Street yesterday, I can report that they have certainly delivered! There is ample room in the changing area with good sized sinks next to each station and easy to reach bins. On top of this they have installed a discreet and comfortable baby feeding area, for this alone I am very impressed!

When it comes to the shopping things have much improved too. I always found the Oxford Street flagship store difficult to negotiate round with a buggy. I appreciate space is of the premium in this type of location but it used to feel very cramped and as if everything was just bundled in without thought. Not so anymore and with clearly directed areas it’s simple to see where you want to go and also, somehow, has become much more roomy. Someone with a great eye for space saving must have been involved and I wonder if they might like to come and apply the same principles to my house?!

It all just looks a bit swish now you know? A 9 screen video wall showing photo shoots, new collections and promotions is surrounded by their ranges: Blooming Marvellous Maternity, BabyK and my own personal favourite Little Bird by Jools Oliver being some of the biggest. The Clarks concession has moved up to the ground floor but the lift is very accessible anyway and getting downstairs with children is not a problem at all!

Downstairs is where it’s at as far as buggies go! An assistant spotted me oggling the Bugaboo collection and said ‘Oh you like this Happy Bugs Bee do you? It’s new and amazing don’t you think?!’. ‘Oh I have this one’ I said, but I still can’t help looking at it!

My exact buggy, the Andy Warhol Happy Bugs Bugaboo Bee is in pride of place at the new look Mothercare flagship store!

We ate canapes, drank champagne and the children were thoroughly entertained by Father Christmas and his elf helper! It was a fabulous evening!

Jimmy and Florence having a play with the toys – seems like I’m not the only buggy fan in this house! How much would I like to get this Silver Cross doll’s pram for Florence? It’s amazing but £300 so perhaps not for us just yet although it IS beautiful!

Of course my children jumped on the ELC Key Boom Board! This is JUST up their street and apparently Florence introduced herself and her brother over the microphone before performing. I didn’t hear it but I can certainly believe it, I don’t call them Rock ‘n’ Roller babies for nothing you know!

Is this the best Hello Kitty you’ve ever seen or what?!

What party at this time of year is complete without a Father Christmas and a bit of story telling?!

There were lots of magical Christmassy touches in store yesterday and I’m even more inspired for our own 25 sleeps before Christmas now. I wrote about what we shall be doing in the run up to Christmas yesterday. It involves naughty elf fun, lots of chocolate and turning the milk blue – yep, blue!

Thank you Mothercare for a wonderful evening and we think your new look flagship store looks super duper! We had an ace time at the party which we got to enjoy with other lovely bloggers and their families, Emily from Family Four Fun, Alice from An Essex Wife and Lauren from MummyIsAGadgetGeek as well, of coursee, as the celebs!

I have not been paid to write this post.
