A Friend In Trouble!

How do you help someone when they are far away?

Someone you know is hurting and you know needs your friendship? I just don’t know what to do?

I want to reach out to someone I love, someone I care about but I don’t know how to do it. I can’t simply hop on a train or drive to see her because she is much, much further away that that. In anther country. On another continent. But I know she is in need.

I feel so frustrated because I can’t get to her and I can’t hug her and tell her how much she is loved and try, just try to understand how and why she is doing what she is doing?

I am so worried about this friend of mine that I am worried for her life. She is destroying herself I think and I feel like I can’t do anything about it… I can’t be the friend I want to be.

I know she is with people she loves and who love her so I just have to hope that she is being looked after; I’m sure she is but I don’t know because I don’t know them I only know her.

Money does not make people happy but it does facilitate things. If I had money I would go to her. I would get on a plane and I would go. Just so that I could hug her and ask her what’s the matter? How can I help? Let me help you, I would say. I would go just for a day, I wouldn’t care how far away it is or how long it would take me to get there. If I had the money then I would go.

We live in a world of technology yet I couldn’t feel further away from my friend now that I know she is in trouble. There’s a line in my favourite children’s film ‘The Goonies’, ‘You can’t hug a photograph’. I can see my friend needs a friend but I can’t hug her. I so wish I could.

MY LIFE WITH 2!

Florence has loved being back at school this week and seeing all her friends. It’s been rather quiet at home and we’ve been having lazy days! We went to a Google event at the beginning of the week where there were workshops for the Mummy bloggers to take part in! I wish I could tell you I learned loads but unfortunately I was running around after Jimmy who seemed intent on eating the permanent marker pens put out for the children to play with – I’m guessing the person whose idea that was doesn’t actually have children! Florence thought they were brilliant though and drew a Thomas the Tank Engine that impressed Lisa from New Mum On Line so much she even talked about it on her blog! Florence is very pleased with the praise I can tell you! I did find out all about Google Hyperlapse though which is awesome and you can take full journeys on line by putting a start and a finish address then whizzing through the streets from the Google street view pictures – amazing fun! If only it made you able to give the person a hug at the other end of your journey…

Google Pens

Playing with pens at Google HQ!

The amazing Google offices are very close to Holborn and we always love a trip to Coram’s Fields when we’re close. It’s free to get in and has wonderful play areas including an inside drop in play group! There is also a mini farm which is well worth a see in central London. We had a lovely day playing at Google and at Coram’s so we made a little video to show you!

Jimmy’s such a monkey, he’s not been sleeping very well so we’re all very tired! I totally needed my spa afternoon this week which was a Christmas present from Jonny last year and I STILL hadn’t used until now! I went to Spa London’s York Hall and it was utterly divine! I had an all over body scrub and spent the afternoon in and out of all the thermal rooms! I can’t wait to go back! If only I had known about it when I lived in Tower Hamlets, which I did for yonks before moving to Waltham Forest, as you get a MASSIVE discount if you do! I think they should extend it to us Waltham Foresters! I’d be there so much if they did!

I’ll be back next week, hopefully after a few rested sleeps and in the mean time please do follow me on Twitter @rocknrollerbaby.

  1. Oh I have never been to Coram Fields – I would have come with you if I had realised. The only reason we went to Hamleys was because travelling before 09:30 meant my travelcard was £15, so I did not want to go straight home and waste it. We went to Hamleys. Aaron got hungry and tired (reason for his outburst at Google) so we went to a cafe – where I ended up spending £30!!!! (gulps) and then he slept there on my knee for 2 hours and when he woke insisted on going back to Hamleys. We didn’t get home until I think 21:30 or something like that, by which time I was shattered, as we had my nieces and nephew Thurs/Fri/Saturday, Harrods Grotto Sunday, and then that long day Monday, so the last few days we have been recovering. Tuesday night he was asleep by 17:30 and Wednesday night by 19:40, when he’s normally asleep at 21:30.

I’ll have to check out Coram Fields at some point, as Treading on Lego is always talking about it too.

Thanks for the mention. I agree with you about the pens, and I wish they’d had some lego or something.

    Liska xx
