Well, we made it through the first whole week of school with only a little drama. Florence has had up and down moments but thankfully more ups and she is already coming on leaps and bounds with her reading which she was already pretty good at from nursery. I’d like to take some credit but really, aside from sitting and listening to her read of an evening, it’s all her! She loves words and has been fascinated by being able […]

Arts and crafts have always been something which Florence is interested in. Any form of craft activity really, she’s just super keen; from first drawings to her quite accomplished talent at the age of four with most arty projects, she has always been able to spend hours concentrating and creating. Quite frankly I’m absurdly proud of her for it. I’m absurdly proud of her for everything she does it has to be said but she really, really is very clever when it […]
Back in June I was invited by Colgate to a party at the Bompas and Parr head Office to take part in their Colgate Sentitive Pro-Relief Challenge. Food and drinks with lots of teeth tingling ingredients to see if my sensitive teeth cold cope once I’d used their Pro-Relief prior to consuming! It worked really well and I really enjoyed all the lovely foods that might usually make my teeth, if not me, wince! I was sent home with a […]
After Florence’s first day of school and the end of her first week I decided to make our very first Friday Night Treat a pirate themed one! Both children loved it and it was so easy! I bought a table cloth, silver paper plates and some curly straws from Poundland along with a glass jug (I will use all again) and then created the rest of the bits using things we already had like a fish ice cube tray from Ikea. […]
Florence had her first day of school this week and with my heart in my mouth I spent the entire day just waiting to go and pick her up again. She was fine. Didn’t cry once. I cried quite a bit. I dabbed my eyes (didn’t want mascara to fall down my face in front of her extremely young looking and very attractive male teacher – the other Mums and I call him Mr Foxy) in the classroom as I […]
I wrote a few weeks ago about the new Bugaboo Bee 3 which is launched this month but I hadn’t yet seen it in person. I’m a big fan of the Bee and always have been. I still use my original which is 5 years old and I also love my Bee Plus but there are elements of both buggies which are better than the other. I like the hood on the original because it is longer but I like […]
When Florence was born we got no sleep until I finally relented and brought her in bed with us. It took three weeks for me to finally give up trying to lower her into the moses basket and remove my hands from her slowly so that she didn’t notice (she always did) and wait for the screams. When I sat down on my bed her whole body would relax and after we started co-sleeping I couldn’t understand what took me […]
If you’ve not yet heard of Steffi Love then I suppose you either don’t have a television or you don’t have a four year old girl? Steffi Love is a fashion doll made by Simba but she’s also so much more than that! She is also a singer and has released her very own single which has been playing across the children’s networks all summer long. If you haven’t seen the video then check it out here because it’s actually […]
I remember when Florence was tiny and we were all introduced to CBeebies for the first time. I loved the bed time hour namely because of the ‘goodnight song’ and we all used to sing-a-long with it. The bed time hour, starting with that song and then ending with it too, is a really gentle way of saying ‘time to wind down and relax before bed’. CBeebies is really good at so many things actually and both of mine love […]
A couple of weeks ago we reviewed the Ben and Holly Thistle Castle Play Set which we thought was pretty ace. We mentioned in the review that you could add to the set with other Ben and Holly play sets. The swing, slide and roundabout all come with a Holly figure (as does the castle) and interlock with the castle to create a bigger play area. They each cost £9.99 from Character and are for ages 3+. The Ben and […]
