FREE Dodo And Dinosaur Trail At Chantry Place This Half Term!
From the 4th to the 18th of February, covering the entirety of half term, Chantry Place has created a most generous invitation to come, with your children, and enjoy their Dodo and Dinosaur Trail for absolutely FREE!
Running in connection with the Norwich Science Festival, which also gifts a half term itinerary packed to the the rafters with FREE or inexpensive activities for the children, the trail begins at Langleys inside the shopping mall (you can also pick up maps from The Forum, home to the festival). It’s Langleys where you can also pick up your map to guide you into finding the answers as it takes you from stop to stop discovering dinosaur facts, as illustrated and written by the Norfolk Mum and daughter duo behind Dodo and Dinosaur!
Not only this but… You are challenged to take an urban hike around the centre looking for the real life fossils to be found in the natural limestone flooring of Chantry Place. Ammonites and belemnites hide tiny AND BIG within the floor beneath your feet and it’s absolutely glorious when you find one, especially if it’s a big one (look near Lush for the biggest one we found when looking)! Such an exciting fact – I know we will be looking for them every time we shop now, even after the trail is over!
Dodo and Dinosaur is an A-Z of the #ExtraordinaryExtinct written in charming rhyme and illustrated so beautifully you’ll want to see more, which is great, because you can pick up some Dodo goodies like birthday cards and a card game too! In fact, you could win yourself some of the DoDo goodies if you’re the very lucky one who hands in their trail map when completed, to pick up a sticker for the last spot, and enter the competition at the same time. That’s not all you could win either, a £100 HMV voucher is in the prize pot along with an Orchard Toys game! What a fantastic prize for one lucky one, but an awesome trail for all!
We did the trail on the day it launched this weekend and in a money saving bid all round we had a very inexpensive morning packed with fun! We picked up Babycinnos from the new Costa in the centre which is now in a fabulous location right by HM. Did you know Costa sell these for children at just 60p for a chocolate one and FREE if you opt for milk only? For a nibble we picked up the lunch time Too Good To Go offer from Chantry Place’s Auntie Anne’s which is always 3 pretzels for £3.59 – bargain!
Posie and Raffie (when he joined us after football) had a great time doing the trail and we saw lots of other families enjoying it too. Bravo Chantry Place who told me the reason they’ve created it is to be part of the community, making an offering everyone can enjoy with the inclusivity of it not needing anyone to put their hand in their pocket in order to take part. Small village vibes, just what we like from our small village city where we have the beauty of great shops on our doorstep, in a location steeped in visual history, the beach and countryside on our doorstep and a great proximity to get to the capital should we want to. No wonder Norwich is consistently voted the best place to bring up children in the country!
