Well looking out of my window this morning and it’s hard to believe that just last month we were on a sunny family holiday in Portugal. Today the rain is falling, there is so much mist I can’t see to the end of my road and I know that we will have to wrap up super warm when we go outside. I don’t mind some of winter. The build up to December’s quite good I’ll concede what with all the […]

Last year I was invited to a wine tasting ahead of Christmas by the supermarket Asda. It was around the same time that they were being publicly slammed on social networking sites like Twitter for having the humor to produce a very tongue in cheek advert for the holiday season. The advert showed ‘Mum’ doing everything for the big day from the shopping and decorating to wrapping and cooking. I for one took it for exactly as it was intended; a […]
We are of course Rock ‘n Roller babies in this house! Why? Because Daddy is a musician! The children, I think, have inherited his musical talents for both singing and playing instruments and with no encouragement whatsoever they pretend to be singing into microphones and play guitars! Florence has long had an electric style guitar to play with from The Early Learning Centre and Jimmy has a lovely little wooden acoustic one! They really are little rock stars in the […]
I am a Haven blogger for this year and as such an ambassador I was lucky enough to be sent on a trip to a site of my choice at the start of the summer. We had a fabulous time at Rockley Park in Dorset and I wrote extensively about it on my blog here. We had SUCH a good time in the caravan that we decided we would go back after the summer had finished for an extra little […]
It’s National Baking Week did you know? From Monday 14th – 20th October 2013 we can embrace the inner baker in us, get flouring the sides and kneading dough for that is what is expected of us! With programmes like the Great British Bake Off being so super popular at the moment I’m sure it won’t take a lot of encouragement for lots of us and I am no exception! NOT that I am a particularly skilled kitchen dweller I […]
I don’t know about anyone else but I know I spend a lot of time, when I’m just about ready to go out, searching for socks! The children just never seem to have them on and when we want to get shoes on I find myself shouting ‘WHERE ARE THE SOCKS, FIND THE SOCKS’! Often we have to abandon sock search and get a new pair out. This means one or two socks are permanently missing as they don’t get […]
There are some toys that never go out of fashion. Take toy trains, for example. Britons have been in love with trains ever since the day in 1829 when 15,000 people turned up to see George Stephenson’s Rocket take part in the Rainhill Trials. Children have been in love with toy trains for almost as long and if you look at the wooden train set selection at WoodenToyShop.co.uk you’re bound to find a set to please just about every toddler, […]
I love to photograph clothes. I don’t know why but it seems to sit well with me so some of my most favourite posts to write are fashion ones. I just love to try and make clothes look beautiful and I do my best to picture them in imaginative and interesting ways. Some clothes don’t need a lot of help… Some clothes just are beautiful no matter how you capture them. The clothes speak for themselves if you will… Polarn […]
Jonny and I used to enjoy a city break and with no children and two incomes we could afford to go on a few. I loved New York! It was an amazing experience watching the 4th of July fireworks over the Hudson River and literally everything about my memories from our holiday make me smile. My Dad had lots of air miles that he gave us so we even got to fly Club Class! Amazing and we felt like super […]
Aldi asked some of their shoppers to take part in their ‘Swap and Save’ challenge. 8 weeks using Aldi for their weekly shop instead of their usual supermarket. They asked them to make videos to explain how much they saved by taking part! One person saved as much as £46.54 a week! Amazing! About the same time we were conducting our own Aldi test. We did a shop at Tesco and then a like for like shop at Aldi another […]
