Kids Daily Essentials With Naked Nutrition!

My12 year old has always found food a bit of a chore. He doesn’t yet take great pleasure in eating and thinks of it more as a necessity than enjoyment so getting him to stop doing something else, in order to sit and eat, is always hard work. And yet he’s super active, very sporty and needs fuel. To add to this, he’s really little and having had numerous hospital appointments about his height and weight (which have all been deemed normal with normal projections) he has been told he needs to fuel smartly in order to get all the nutrients he needs. If food really doesn’t float his boat, his consultant told us, then get the calories and good stuff in using supplements to compliment the food he does eat (which is also on a very small list of accepted foods as he is, like his older sister and younger brother, very fussy – our toddler eats everything so it’s not me I promise). So, for a long time now Jimmy has tried various protein bars and shakes, he’s had gummies and all sorts. Some he likes, others he’s very definitely not keen on at all, but the latest in our supplement menu, Naked Nutrition’s chocolate nutrition mix, he has enjoyed very much which has been excellent, especially at the moment because Jimmy needs a boost now, more than ever!

In May Jimmy fell off his bike. A rather innocent thing that happens to kids every single day, and yet he managed to fall in just the wrong way meaning his bike handle turned on its side as it landed, with him landing on top, handle bar end sticking upwards and making that first point of contact with the impact directly to his abdomen. Again that might seem fairly inconsequential, especially when you hear that there was no bleeding at all, that we could see. Just a perfect circle in what presented as a bad graze, the exact mark of the end of the handle bar. Thankfully I’d read a story where a child had done this exact thing and I knew there could be internal damage so after speaking to some nurse friends, just to make sure I wasn’t being overly protective, we took him to A&E and from there the story got a bit grim. Jimmy had indeed done a lot of damage, and he was bleeding, but internally. He’d caused a complete transection of his bowel and punctured it in 3 other places. He needed an emergency 3 hour surgery to remove a piece, sew it all back together and then, with 7 different lines in looking after his recovery, he spent a week recovering in the HDU at the N&N, before another week recuperating at home.

Jimmy is young and fit, all his sports served him well, so recovery time was swift in terms of getting him on his feet again thankfully, but my already very slim Jim lost half a stone while he was poorly. This is weight which when you are already very slight, made a massive difference to both his energy levels and appearance. Jimmy wanted to work on building himself back up to full fitness asap so although he still had 6 weeks of further rest, with no sports, he wanted to work on the goodness he was putting inside him. Again, this is not easy when you’ve lost a lot of weight, don’t have a great appetite at the best of times, and are recovering from a major life saving operation. So we knew we had to compliment his recovery with supplements and they had to be nice ones, you definitely need something tempting when you’ve been through such an ordeal.

The Naked Nutrition Kid’s Daily Essentials chocolate shake offers 4g of fibre and 8g of protein, with 25 other vitamins and minerals per shake. 100 calories a glass is a quick boost in that direction and as we made it with full fat milk (can be made with water) it’s also really deliciously tempting! Extra creamy and with more calories this way! The product itself is made with organic milk and 6 different organic vegetable powders while it contains NO artificial sweeteners, flavours, colours, or preservatives. So, nothing nasty, only good stuff! It is gluten, soy and GM free too so there really isn’t anything negative about the shake which Jimmy has been drinking as if it’s a treat in the mornings with his breakfast.

I’d say that Jimmy can get very moody when tired and under fuelled and we’ve seen a real pick up in his demeanour which is an add on to the fact that he’s also been getting all the good stuff inside him. Some of the vitamins and minerals I’m really pleased he’s getting an injection of with the Naked shake are calcium, iron and magnesium, things you will have heard of of course, but he’s also getting a dose of things like biotin which is so good for helping the body turn food into energy (JUST what an active 12 year old needs), panthothenic acid which everyone needs for energy and selenium which helps to regulate the metabolism as well as being great for skin, hair and nails. There’s lots more within this shake, it’s a treasure trove of vitamins and minerals, and all dressed up in a hidden veg pasta sauce style way! I’m going to be buying more for Jimmy because finding things like this that he does actually like to drink, and which don’t prove a chore within themselves, are not always easy. This one definitely gets his thumbs up!

This shake for kids by Naked Nutrition is especially designed to assist children with optimal growth and development. Jimmy is a boy who always needs a bit of a hand with getting the goodies in but right now, after his ordeal, it’s been especially good for him and we’ve noticed a difference since he began taking extra supplements in! And of course, little sister’s think it’s pretty tasty too!

I’ll be ordering myself some more of their collagen at the same time which I wrote about a while ago. I really notice a difference when I use that too so Naked Nutrition, expect our incoming order soon!

Collaboration.
