Teething Little Munchkin!

Posted in Lifestyle

Teething Little Munchkin! People keep asking me what they should buy Jimmy for Christmas and I am struggling what to say? The thing is, when you’re going to be 8 months old and you have an older sister who was 8 months old before you, all the things you might like are kind of already going to be there… Shape sorters, baby walkers, books, toys galore… I know its nice to have new things but really it would just be […]

Count Down to Christmas – Christmas Dress-Up!

Posted in Uncategorized

For a little bit of Mummy entertainment and a little bit of an ‘Ahhhh factor’ you can’t go wrong with a touch of ‘seasonal baby dress up’! When they’re tiny it’s probably the only time we’ll get away with making our offspring put on costumes to make the whole family swoon so we may as well take advantage! For her first two Christmas days I dressed Florence up like a reindeer, I can’t remember where I got the outfit from now […]

Peppa Pig’s Festive Treasure Hunt!

Posted in Uncategorized

Last year one of our highlight theatre experiences was our trip to see Peppa Pig’s Treaure Hunt! Florence, like most of the little ones we’re friends with, is a major fan of the little piggy family created by Astley, Baker, Davies and was thrilled to bits to see her in the live show even at not quite two yet! She’s such a big fan that last Christmas her presents were mainly Peppa related and I remember wondering if it was really […]

Pantomime at Stratford East!

Posted in Uncategorized

Pantomime, traditionally, is the back bone of the theatre being the main income earner by drawing in crowds for festive entertainment. This would then finance the rest of the year which may not have seen so many people through the doors so it was terribly important to have it. Lots of people are quite snobby about pantomime though and miss the point that it’s meant to be fun, something to be joined in with and ultimately not taken seriously! Well, […]

‘Father Christmas’ at the Lyric!

Posted in Uncategorized

When a  run is very, very almost sold out even before the press performance and anyone has had a chance to give it the thumbs up then it’s either one of two things: The play is so well-known and popular that it has a devotee of fans who would follow it wherever/whenever or the theatre company performing have an impeccable record! So when the play in question has never been performed on stage before I think we have to assume […]

Where are you meeting Father Christmas?

Posted in Uncategorized

A while back I found the perfect farm for an Easter treat! Just before Jimmy was born Florence, Jonny and I took a trip to Willows Farm Village in Hertfordshire and had the most superb day! The sun was shining and Florence had a ball bouncing on the giant castle, taking trips on the old-fashioned fair ground rides, playing in the sand pit (when I say sand pit there’s a few and they’re quite extensive) and meeting all the animals! We all […]

Count Down to Christmas – Christmas Crafts!

Posted in Uncategorized

We’ve been busy doing lots of Christmas crafts this past week and been having so much fun making cards and decorations! One of the things we’ve been making are some rather special Christmas cards for the Grandparents – We are actually really rather proud of our creations – even if we do say so ourselves!! We bought a poster paint set which came with a brush from ELC (£4) and some cheap canvasses (you can often find them in the pound shops – they’re not […]

Explaining the menstrual cycle to a toddler and other stories!

Posted in Uncategorized

Askamum love my blog, ooo-errr how exciting! As the mother of a girl and a boy I am prepared for the social responsibilities I have with both of them. I’m aware that my role as their mother, although similar, will be slightly different for Jimmy to Florence. I will have to concentrate in detail on certain things with her and other things with him while they both will need to know everything of course. I expect the worries I will […]

Cuddly Snuggles and Gifts with Jellybabys!

Posted in Uncategorized

Jimmy has been using hooded towels since he was born and we think they’re fab for little ones because it means that as soon as they come out of the bath their little heads can be kept warm. (They also look super cute wrapped up too!) Unfortunately the little towels he had been using, which were just plain white ones, are really too small for him now so we’ve been on the lookout for a bigger one. We also wanted […]
