Valentine’s Gifts To Make Your Heart Pitter Patter!

Valentine’s Gifts To Make Your Heart Pitter Patter!

It it commercial? Yes! Is it lovely to love though? Yes, yes, yes! While some don’t put much store into gifting loved ones for Valentine’s Day, I have to say, I rather go in for it. Both to offer my own love and, hopefully to receive a card (at least)! I’d be very humpy if I didn’t get appreciated over Valentine’s Day and though in years gone past my husband has very definitely got it wrong, he’s learned over time that it’s just the thought that counts and putting a little of that into it costs very little in time, energy and, indeed, expense!

So here are my top tips for a Valentine’s Day filled with love, not just for your romantic lead but also for anyone tyou love. The day is not just for Valentines but Galentines, Palentines and actually anyone you want to whisper the three little words that mean the most, I LOVE YOU!

For the kiddos I’ll be making these fab Valentine’s Milkshakes which cost very little and though they take a tiny bit of effort it’s always so appreciated. I make milkshakes all year round for the kiddos using the milk bottles I bought on an Aldi special buy many moons ago and I decorate them with melted chocolate and sweets. For my Valentines shakes I dip them in milk chocolate and pink sprinkles before decoarting with love hearts, edible pearls, fruit, cream and a straberry dipped in chocolate and sprinkles too!

For my husband I like to remind him that flowers are ALWAYS a good idea but if I bought a bouquet of florals it would be mainly for me, so… how about manly flower arrangements? No, I’m not talking about heavy handed petals but something quite different and unusual, something he can enjoy with a cold glass of beer but which really says I LOVE YOU dude!

Beef jerky flowers are an ace way of sending a bouquet to that special guy in your life and something to talk about too!

For my Mum it absolutely will be the traditional bouquet (of course) with chocolates to match but thinking outside the box I want to treat her to afternoon tea at one of our favourite places. Biddy’s Tea Room in Norwich does a phenomenal avo tea set up for £15 per person and with a huge sandwich, scone and cake of choice from the board it’s enough to fill you up all day long. I’ve never been and not had to bring the last bit of cake home in a box for later – she will love it and with my eldest daughter we will make it our galentine’s treat!

If Florence is cashing in on Gram’s Valentine’s treat then the little ones will need an extra little love too so we will do some heart shaped crafts which can then be used afterwards. I love to use up all the broken crayons by breaking them up and adding them to silicon moulds before baking in the oven to melt them into shapes. I have this fab heart shaped ice cube tray which works perfectly and I love these rainbow hearts which are perfect for Valentine’s day!

A spot of baking is great for the whole family so I always try to make some red velvet cupcakes (what else?!) to enjoy with all my loved ones on valentines day. I also like to gift them to my favourite friends. Love is worth sharing and showing that in cake form is always welcome! I use the Hummingbird Bakery recipe and it includes that cream cheese frosting which is oh so to dive into! Top them with chocolate hearts et voila!

When it comes to me all I need is a cuddle and to hear the words… But… I also wouldn’t mind a piece of jewellery if we’re talking dollar! Merci Maman Jewellery is my current squeeze when it comes to something special to decorate yourself with. I have a few pieces now but my favourite so far is my Mother of Pearl spinning ring which has my children’s initials on the underside. I reckon Jonny could buy me anything from there and I’d be good to go!

As for the rest of Valentine’s Day? Well… Just some good food (an M&S dine in meal deal will do), followed by a movie and I’m anyone’s!

Happy Valentine’s Day guys!

Collaboration.
