Celebrating 50 Years Of Learning Made Fun With Orchard Toys!

Orchard Toys are celebrating 50 years of learning made fun and is it any wonder they have had SUCH longevity when they make games that children remember even when they’re much older and don’t really play them anymore. Having had two older ones and then a gap before two little ones, my big kids get to relive their favourite programmes (who doesn’t love playing the game of what you used to love when little on children’s TV) but I also find they get so much enjoyment from playing games with Raffie now that he’s big enough to really understand them.

We LOVE Orchard Toys and even better for us is that they are very local, just one village away from where we live the Orchard Toys HQ sits and so we feel like they are a little bit more of ours than the rest of the country. The games are superb fun but always with an educational level and though we are super lucky to have been gifted some recently (more on that further down), we also buy them for presents whenever there is a party and of course for Raffie. For his recent birthday we bought him a few to help with learning to read and write as well as memory type games, He loves them and it’s like a hidden veg dinner as he has so much fun playing that he doesn’t realise the good they do in his education to boot. Winner in my book don’t you think?!

So, 50 years of Orchard Toys and no wonder they’re just blooming more than ever before. Sturdy, good quality games that come in boxes which are easy to store. We are massive fans, how about you?

Take a look at a couple of the games Raffie has been playing recently alongside the many others he owns and plays regularly. These two are great for playing with Jimmy who makes like he’s doing it for his little brother but actually enjoys it himself!

Jumble Jungle:

Jumble Jungle is a bit like picking up pairs!
Lay them out and turn two over while trying to remember their positions so on your next go you can make a pair. Perfect for Raffie’s memory and fine motor skills too!

Old MacDonald Lotto:

This one again has the cards placed face down as you try to find the corresponding pictures to match the ones on your board!
Remember the cards everyone else picks up in case they belong to your board!
And be the first to fill your board to be the winner while making the animal noises as you find them – super fun!

Smelly Wellies:

Another great memory game as well as following colours and patterns, you need to find wellies for your monsters!
Raffie loved this one!
Again it’s great for more than just his memory but finding skills in placing the pieces down is also important!

Post Box Game:

A little more advanced if you need it to be this one can be played with up to 4 players!
But Raffie also likes to play solo!
Finding the right coloured envelopes for the post boxes is just one way of playing!
And against an opponent for more fun!
Who will win?!
What a lovely game!

The simple rules of each game often suggest different ways to play making them easier or harder depending on the age and capabilities of the child. We usually find we can make up a few more ways making the games really long lasting when it comes to development. Florence and Jimmy are enjoying playing the games with their little brother as much as I think they did themselves when they were little! The Orchard Toys range have a starting age range of 18m months and they have masses to choose from!

Orchard Toys, of course, have a Christmas range out too and I will speak about them soon I promise. We are so looking forward to playing with the Christmas Eve Box, a Christmas list game and 20 piece puzzle (perfect as an advent or Christmas Eve gift) and the Pigs In Blankets mini pairing game. How exciting!

Happy birthday Orchard Toys, we look forward to many more years of your brilliance!

We were gifted the games in this post.
