Thursford Enchanted Journey Of Light!

Thursford Enchanted Journey Of Light!

People flock from all around the country to see the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. We’ve seen it before and it is a real treat, simply stunning for older children and adults and being somewhat of an institution I wasn’t surprised to meet a lady in my gym yesterday morning who was on a coach trip from up North to kick off her Christmas traditions with a performance. We chatted about the fact we were both visiting yesterday, although we weren’t going for the show this time, but jnsyead to take the little two to see Father Christmas and take in the Thursford Enchanted Journey Of Light!

Making our way through Fantasy Land, a myriad of installations with moving snowmen, dancing puppets, elves at work and enchanting displays you are lead through to Santa’s Grotto (if that’s where you’re headed) or out into the night where a left turn leads you through a fairground and into the Enchanted Journey of Light!

After visiting with a very jolly Father Christmas and his elf, the children being gifted an age appropriate puzzle and building game, we decided to not take a whirl on the fairground on account of a time element but you could spend a while enjoying hot chocolates and soaking up the American style feel to the event before heading into the glorious light walk if you so wished. We couldn’t wait to walk around the area which we first visited a couple of years ago and noted it has evolved for the even better. We loved it when we saw it the last time but improvements have been made making this a far more inclusive experience. The ground has been worked on to make the pathway wheel accessible and less boggy in inclement weather which was inviting for a start and this year’s clear sections as we took a trip around the lantern light extravaganza. From underwater to an Oriental garden we travelled through beauteous displays of moving and static light exhibitions which are both breathtaking and calming all in one.

We enjoyed it very much and with lots of photo opportunities we took full advantage of the displays which please for the fun and also for the wonder.

Music and sound accompany the journey which is very special, socially distanced (if that’s important to you) and truly a lot of thought has been poured into the animals and creatures on display. It was incredibly pleasing to the eye and we feel super lucky to have experienced this so early in the season. The children adored it – and so did we!

A ticket to visit just the Enchanted Journey of Light with the Fantasy Land precursor is FREE for those under two or £22 for everyone else and can be booked in conjunction with the grotto, the Spectacular, or as a stand alone event to be a meet cute after dark.
