Busy parents often feel guilty about serving up a quick meal and it’s not surprising when the media like to put the pressure on and make us all feel less than adequate while berating us for our imperfections (remember fish finger gate and the Daily Fail?)! Well, I think us blogging mums showed them didn’t we because if you DO remember yesterday’s fish and chip wrapper then you will also (and far more likely regardless) remember the hashtag #SolidariTea! Our […]
Dearest Raffie, You are three months old and we have completed our fourth trimester. I am amazed at how quickly the time has gone but that’s because we’ve been having so much fun. You are such a smiler and so lovely to be with. I’d wondered when I was pregnant if I would mind not having any time to myself but I honestly don’t! I can’t think of a better way to spend my days than with you! You are beginning […]
I love my bedroom, it’s right at the top of my house in our loft conversion and absolutely filled with light. We had the walls painted a brilliant white and to match, most of the furniture is white too. It’s my big, bright space for sleeping and getting ready. The room is the entire expanse of the house with one half being the bedroom and the other, all open plan, a dressing area with a separate bathroom attached. It reminds […]
I remember getting my first sling when Florence was tiny and it literally revolutionised my life at the time. I became a baby wearer instantly because it suddenly meant I could do everything I needed to do (nothing exciting, I’m talking hoovering here) and I didn’t have to put her down. Being put down was not something Florence was very keen on! I wore her outside too of course, I could often be seen pushing my empty buggy while I […]
Kicking off the new year with dry January might be perfect for some but not for me! Just like my shunning of making massive changes and declarations to be virtuous at all times, a sure fire way to fail knowing me, I have, instead, decided to just make better choices. So… I won’t drink to excess and definitely not every day and I will be choosing healthier options as well as eating less and moving more in general but to […]
I remember trying desperately hard to put Florence in a Moses basket. The advice was DON’T have her in bed with you and I so wanted to follow the advice. I didn’t know what I was doing first time around (not that I’m any expert now with three) and was so frightened of doing something wrong but she just wouldn’t sleep on her own and after three weeks with no sleep, a bout of mastitis, a fortnight of finger feeding […]
When Florence was a few week’s old she was in a photo shoot for a DK book about parenting and in the green room we were introduced to a Tiny Love play gym. At home we had a very sedate and oh so fitting in with our furniture gym which she had been on but not been terribly enamoured by and I had thought she simply wasn’t interested in such toys yet. But… The sudden animation on her face at […]
Well it’s been back to reality for us today with the big kids back to school and Jonny back at work meaning the Raffster and I have had to fend for ourselves getting the house de-pine needled and spick and span so that we can continue 2018 with a fresh house. We had the loveliest time over Christmas celebrating Raffie’s very first one, Florence turning 8 and Jonny hitting the big FOUR-OH (dear)! Obviously with two birthdays straight after the […]
I’d forgotten how horrible colic is in tiny babies, how awful it makes them feel and in turn how horrible it makes you feel as a parent watching them. Because really, once they are in the throes of a bout, it doesn’t matter how much jiggling and soothing you offer, the pair of you have to ride it out. Florence suffered terribly and it was heartbreaking listening to her cry. She found some sort of contentment in music and as […]
This is SUCH a simple idea but oh so clever and boy does it work! The Rockit Rocker, a portable baby rocker fits onto the handle of any buggy with its universal strap and basically, at the touch of a button, will rock your baby to sleep! I saw this last week at the launch party for the new Quali Strller by Egg as they had it attached to a few of their buggies and, when I put Raffie in […]
