Pensthorpe For Somethign Yummy!

Pensthorpe For Something Yummy!

I write often about Pensthorpe Natural Park and the many things we love about our almost weekly visits. Feeding the ducks, walking around the lake, visiting the falingoes (sic -it’s what Jimmy called them so we all do now) and of course the amazing play areas! There is so much to do when on the park that would excite literally all age brackets and the whole family are members because from Gram to Posie there really is just the perfect day out for all inside the very many acres that make up Pensthorpe!

Another thing you can do at Pensthorpe is dine and shop, without so much as stepping foot inside the main gates. Without a ticket you can rock up for some yummy food and a browse of the incredibly extensive shop (although they don’t sell shoes we found out when I’d left Posie’s at home) which sells so many lovely treats. It’s way more than a gift shop!

We often get some chips or a jacket potato from the Courtyard Cafe when we visit, a little supplement to a picnic, but we have yet to try one of their roast dinners, something on the agenda for a while that we’ve not got around to however we missed the boat for this season as it’s a winter offering only. Not to worry, we tried their afternoon tea instead! Over half term they were running a special tea party which we thoroughly enjoyed but with 24 hours notice they will serve up a plentiful and delicious spread to rival afternoon teas everywhere. In this most British of surroundings you will be able to enjoy unlimited tea (or coffee) alongside delicate finger sandwiches, scones and cakes including Victoria sponge, chocolate brownie and lemon posset (which was delicious although I didn’t get to eat much of mine as it was stolen by the baby!

They do also put on a spread for children with more child friendly options if lemon posset isn’t your baby’s favourite! We devoured it and were so full we had to bring the last of our cakes home with us – well, waste not want not! The coffee cake was a massive hit (Gram lost hers this time to Jimmy) and it was delivered with such smiles and wonderful service. Oh we had a beautiful time and what a treat!

Give the catering team a call on 01328 851465 giving them 24 hours notice of when you’d like to book and do enjoy afternoon tea there too. Here’s a little montage of the day, I’m so glad we got to walk off all that cake before rolling ourselves home again!

Gifted.
