Roarr! For The Holidays!
It was Raffie’s 5th birthday over the weekend and for another year running he wanted to go to Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure to celebrate. I think it really is his most favourite place in the world and it doesn’t matter how many times we go, he always wants to see the Dippy Show, in the theatre, over anything else. This visit he also got to go and meet and greet with Dippy which was the icing on the birthday cake as far as he is concerend!
The thing about Roarr! which makes it perfect for our family in particular, is that there are so many elements, from the theatre (Raffie’s stalwart fave) which is more geared up to the little ones, to the high ropes (something the older ones like to get their teeth stuck into), with play areas, walks, an interactive trail, a farm, soft play, water splash play in the summer, golf, GoKarts… Oh so much, that there really is something for everyone and absolutely everyone gets a look in.
We had another stonking day out where all the fun is included in the price meaning you’re not stung for multiple extra add-ons once inside – even for the photograph at the end of the VR dinosaur trail!
and already can’t wait to go back. The park is gorgeous, it’s a lovely place to just be. It rarely feels busy, never over crowded and though we’ve been lots of times before, we always seem to find something new to do. It also helps that they gear themselves up for their visitors chameleon-ing into each season.
Of course the next big shin dig will be October half term, or as we like to call it, Halloween half term because, literally any excuse to decorate and make the most of a season and I’m there. As is Roarr!
Roarr! always do Halloween superbly with just the right element of ghoul to not frighten the tiny ones but enough to ignite the fun of it all for the bigger kids. We love it. This year they have a massive itinerary for Dippy’s Halloween Days, and let me tell you this, you won’t get through it all in one day, so perhaps book two!
Dippy’s Halloween Days runs from the 22nd to the 30th of October and involves:
A magical spell has been cast over ROARR! this year with some exciting new activities. It’s time to make the most of your half term by joining ROARR! for the reopening of the Weston-Smythe School of Dinosaurs and The Undead.
As the full moon rises, so do the dead… Dippy’s Halloween Days welcomes the Weston-Smythe School of Dinosaurs back to the Park after 100 years of being closed. The original teachers have also returned in various forms to bring order, discipline and a good solid education back to the guests of ROARR! Dinosaur Adventure.
When you arrive, you will be allocated to your school house (Dippy/Raz/Paris/Terry) and a timetable for the day to make sure visitors are not late to any lesson. Those who complete all the lessons will earn themselves a reward.
All this added fun onto the already jam packed day out sounds pretty good to me. And then if you’re very big kids you could always stay on for PrimEVIL which is proper scary (and lots of fun) for the grown ups in the evening! PrimEVIL runs a little longer than Dippy’s Halloween Days and starts on the 14th of October with its last date being on Halloween itself, the 31st! I’ve been before and it’s BRILLIANT fun! The big kids are desperate to go this year and I’m thinking about it – worth noting under 16s need to be accompanied by an adult at all times and honestly, I’d not consider taking anyone younger than 10. Roarr! is quite enough and just the ticket for the Raff-ster and Posie Pops!
My top tips for a Halloween visit would be to remember that bookings will get full and you will need to book in advance online (I mean it’s cheaper anyway, so why not?!), it will be cold so do hot food at lunch (the fish and chips are great and not bank breaking) or take a flask of soup, remember long sleeves and socks for Dinomite’s indoor slides and note that you can buy an unlimited pass which will take you to January the 2nd (including the holidays) for as many visits as you like – it’s now at a much reduced rate as it comes to the end of the year for just £30 per person so if you’re going to visit more than once in the time frame then this is WELL WORTH IT!
Here’s some of the glorious birthday fun we got up to over the weekend in the park on our favourite list which is ever evolving (there’s new stuff being built right now) and ever changing with the seasons. Bring on half term and Dippy’s Halloween Days!
We visited as guests of the park.
